Think about your requirements and remember these basic guidelines. Waterproof is not as breathable as showerproof. Windproof is easy and all the jackets in this section will give you that. More money spent equals greater breathability and therefore a better jacket particularly on longer runs. The better jackets are also a bit quieter. Hoods are annoying when running as they rub on your ears although great if you're standing there waiting for your running partner to finish.

The jacket should feel quite 'fitted' and not too loose. You will probably only need a single layer of kit on underneath or possibly 2 thin layers so you will typically buy your normal size as you would for other pieces of running kit. If it's slightly too small then you will notice this across the shoulders and it will feel a little restrictive. If it's too big it will flap around in the wind and annoy you.

Gillet just means sleeveless jacket. They work particularly well in Spring and Autumn as their design makes them much more breathable but they will keep the rain off your chest area and stop the problems associated with wind-chill.
