The new MV2 is ultra light, ultra responsive and level to the ground. It offers greater protection and energy return than any other shoe in it's class, with a firm, articulated top-plate that provides excellent surface communication.
The new MV2 is engineered to be the lightest and most efficient Natural Running shoe ever produced. The MV2 second-generation Action/Reaction Technology™ provides greater protection for running on hard surfaces. With a level to the ground profile (zero-pitch) and a unique biomechanical sensor plate, the foot can sense the ground quicker, allowing for a higher cadence. This shoe inspires speed.
Newton is a promoter of “natural running.” This is best defined as the form you would use if you were running barefoot – midfoot/forefoot landing close to the center of mass of the body (among other things). All of Newton’s shoes are characterized by having a relatively small height differential between the heel and forefoot, but until now most of their shoes have retained a fairly thick midsole. The MV2 is Newton's first ultralight racing flat, plus this is a zero drop shoe, meaning that the heel and forefoot are level with one another while the foot is inside the shoe (i.e., no heel lift).
The MV2 from Newton adds a fifth lug, and these extend right to the border of the sole on each side. This provides a much more stable feel under the forefoot than other Newton shoes (the Distance Racer or Sir Isaac). These lugs are also not as prominent – they don’t extend as far out from the sole of the shoe.
Adjusting to a zero pitch shoe: As previously stated the MV2 is level from heel to forefoot. This means it has zero pitch. If you are not accustomed to this, the adjustment process will see your calf muscles and achilles tendon working harder. The shoes come with a 3mm heel lift to use temporarily while adjusting to the lower heel.
